You received two additional Social Security checks in May. You will not receive any money this month. We’ll explain why you don’t get a check in June. (Also, did you know each other may receive an increase in SSI payment later this year?)
SSI benefits are administered by the Social Security Administration and go to qualified recipients with limited income and resources and those who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability. Children who are blind or disabled can also receive SSI.

When will I receive my SSI money each month?
Here’s when you can expect to receive your SSI payments via direct deposit.
- Friday, May 31 (for June)
- Monday, July 1
- Thursday, August 1
- Friday, August 30 (for September)
- Tuesday, October 1
- Friday, November 1
- Friday, November 29 (for December)
Why am I not getting an SSI payment in June?
The Social Security Administration usually pays SSI checks on the first of each month. There are a few exceptions to the payment schedule.
1. If the first day of the month is a holiday.
2. If the first day of the month is a weekend.
Since June 1st is a Saturday, the payments for June went out a day early. This means that your June payment must have arrived on Friday 31 May, which also means you will not receive an additional payment in June.
If I receive other Social Security benefits, will I also receive them earlier?
No. If you’re receiving other Social Security benefits, you’ll still receive them on the normally scheduled day because those payments fall on Wednesday. Here’s when June payments will arrive.
June 3: Social Security payments for people who received Social Security before May 1997.
June 12: Social security payments for those whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of a given month.
June 18: Social security payments for people whose birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of a given month.
June 26: Social security payments for people whose birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of a given month.
