Melbourne captain Max Gone admitted he was unable to answer one of the on-field doctor’s questions after hitting his head during the win over Geelong on Saturday night.
The Demon superstar was kneed to the head by Geelong big man Rhys Stanley in a ruck contest late in the third term.
Gawn was slow to get up as the Cats scored from the resulting clearance. He then spent the next minute having a long conversation with the medical staff.

In the end, he was given everything to take the next center bounce and was among his country’s best in a thrilling final season.
After the match, Gawn revealed that he was initially puzzled by one of the doctor’s questions during the initial assessment of the head injury.
“He asked me a few questions and gave me an absolute belt. He asked me who we played last week and I had no idea,” Gawn told Channel 7 after the game.
“It was 10 days ago. I said “I’m not sure” and the doctor said “sh** I don’t know”.
“In the end it turned out to be Richmond. I passed the ground test, I just had a knee to the head.
Gawn played an important part in the final season with one goal, three marks and nine disposals as the Dees ran out winners by eight points.
The captain highlighted how they changed their game plan to earn the victory over the previously unbeaten Cats.
“With Geelong you have to beat them in the competition to get the ball,” he said.
“And the other part is they’re so strong defensively, Tom Stewart, Jack Henry, De Koning, those guys will pick you apart.
“Our story probably goes down the line … and it’s not just switching every time, it’s being able to find people in the middle of the ground, and I thought we did that really well.”
The win moves the Demons up to fourth with a 6-2 record, one win behind Sydney and Geelong.
